In this section, the concept of landscape compartmentalisation introduced in Section 6.4.1.1 and the erosion history highlighted in Sections 6.4.1.2 to 6.4.1.4 are used to derive a brief summary of the present landscape and to interpret the main differences between the three siting regions (Section 6.4.2.1). Combined with the respective repository depths, these differences provide site-specific constraints (Section 6.4.2.2) for the erosion assessment. Section 6.4.2.3 provides a brief introduction to the model cascade and the specific approach, including an introduction to the methodology of structured expert elicitation, to incorporate uncertainties in the assessment of future erosion. This assessment forms the basis for evaluating future erosion processes (Section 6.4.3), with the focus on the evolution of repository overburden thickness. Results are presented in Section 6.4.4.
